Mike Richards
Michael Karl Richards has been around all sorts of animals since he was a child. When he was very young, his family raised championship German Shepherds and Keeshonden, and he knows exactly what goes into keeping a dog in award-winning condition. Growing up on a small farm in the Fraser Valley, Mike had interaction with all sorts of animals, from horses to chickens and ducks, cattle, sheep, cats and dogs, dogs, dogs!
When Mike was an adolescent, the gift of a troubled Akita made for a difficult, but loving relationship whereby Mike had to learn early on the importance of being the gentle, but firm, alpha dog with certain animals.
A working actor, you might not know Mike’s name, but you probably know his face. As he travels a lot for both work and pleasure he has been reluctant to make a full-time commitment to a canine companion of his own. That’s been good news for Love on a Leash, though.
For the past few years, Mike & his lovely wife, have made terrific friendships with their canine clients at their home on Bowen Island. The wag of their tails when dogs come back to stay has let all of us know how much they’ve enjoyed staying with Mike (and his two cats) while their human parents are out of town.
